BADGER FIREFIGHTERS ASSOCIATION JULY NEWSLETTER

Well we are well into summer as this is being composed. Did you enjoy the first day of summer on June 20th? Now every day will be less sunlight as we approach December 21. What an inspiring thought.

Next up are a lot of great events for us to enjoy—Campbellsport Firefighters Picnic, July 2, 3, 4 with a parade on a NEW route on the 4th. Kewaskum will have fireworks on the 3rd of July at their normal location, River Hill Park. Holland Festival in Cedar Grove on July 23 and 24. Also for the 18th year will be the Annual American Tribute Ride which benefits Wisconsin Firefighters and EMS Memorial, Wisconsin Summer Camp for Youth Burn Survivors, Concerns of Police Survivors-Wisconsin and many veterans organizations. This year the ride starts at the Eden Fire Station, moves to Mount Calvary Firemen’s Park for lunch then to Glenbeulah and Town of Sheboygan Fire Departments and ending at Kiel Fire Station.

GREAT NEWS! The Highway Safety Act, AB297 was passed in the assembly on Tuesday, June 22. However, due to the lack of sufficient number of senators being present for the senate session on June 23, the bill has been tabled until the fall session. There are some senators that are not in favor of the bill as they feel the penalties are too sever for the offender. Please take time to contact your senator and convince him/her that it is dangerous on our roads and we need help!

On Tuesday the 29th of June Badger Firefighters Association was able to honor one or our true Hometown Heroes from Eden Fire Department, Gene Vander Grinten for his 60 years of service to the Eden community.
Our association along with Wisconsin Propane Education and Research Center will be hosting a hands-on training session on Tuesday, October 26 at Campbellsport Fire Department. The station participants we work through are—250-500 gallon tank; twin 100 gallon tanks; pipe flange leak/OS&Y; 35.7 lb. Forklift cylinder; and bobtail review. Participants must have completed Firefighter Entry Level A & B. More information will be forwarded shortly to the departments.
