2018 Spring – Presidents Report

As your President, I have attempted to make many of the functions that our department has had.  The board of officers has been busy in planning and working on making this meeting a meaningful and successful event.

I am honored to have a very effective and dedicated Training Committee; we have a lot to bring forward for you during the committee reports.

I had the honor to be part of presentation of Wisconsin Society of Emergency Services Instructors–Instructor of the Year to Assistant Chief Brad Schaefer of the Slinger Fire Department.

Thank you to the Allenton Volunteer Fire Department for hosting the 2018 Bowling Tournament. I had the honor to make delivery of some of the winnings to the departments.  A report from them will be given later.

We have been involved in recognizing a couple of individuals for 50 and 60 years of service.  The first was Beechwood Fire Department’s Leroy Reysen for 50 years of service. Second was Roy Obertheu of Thiensville.  Unfortunately ice and snow weather kept me from attending the Thiensville Fire Department Appreciation evening.  We will recognize Roy later.

I understand that we have some members serving overseas in the Middle East as military personnel.  It is our policy to make a $50.00 donation towards a “Care Package” your department can send to these people.  You need to contact one of our officers to get the process initiated.

We have two speakers to talk about their experiences in Texas following Hurricane. Assistant Chief Andy Wegner of Mukwonago Fire and Retired Lieutenant Mark Saurer from the City of Waukesha Fire Department will be sharing pictures and experiences helping brother and sister firefighters.

We received a number of very deserving nominations for Meritorious Service along with 3 separate incidents for Heroism by civilians.  Plus we recognize a number of people that have served their departments as officers for a number of years.

In Closing, the Badger Firefighters Association can only be as good as what ALL OF US, contribute.  I encourage you to get involved by being a member of a committee; it is an honor to be a member and leader of this organization.
