September 2021 Newsletter

The new school year has begun!  Remember that emergency vehicles cannot pass a school bus that has activated its warning lights and stop arm is out.  The lives of our young citizens are precious and we need to be prepared for any actions they may take on the roadway.

Now is the time to connect with your local principals to start plans for being involved with your schools.  We are the “Hometown Heroes” to many of our young kids.  Get ready for Fire Prevention Week by being proactive with your school[s].  The PFFW-CF is a great source for information and items to share with your young people of the area.

Our association members continue to host community events that allow us to support them.  Following are some of those events that we have been made aware of:

    • Soles of Souls at Wisconsin Firefighters & EMS Memorial Service of Remembrance at noon on Saturday, September 18th.
    • Saukville 9-11 Parade and Ceremony starting at 6 PM.
    • Fillmore 911 Silent March Tribute Parade, Line up at 8 PM and parade at 9 PM
    • Boltonville Street Dance on Saturday, September 11 8:30 PM to 12:30 AM with Rebel Grace
    • Maxwell St. Days 2021 – September 5th and October 3rd.  Gates open to the public at 6am.

Your Badger Firefighters Association Training Committee continues to look at offering hands-on and classroom presentations to help all of us be better.  On October 26th we will be sponsoring a LP Gas response training.  There will be 5 stations that will allow for hands-on training at the Campbellsport Fire Station.  Each participant must have a minimum of Entry Level Firefighter A & B training.  The stations are as follows:

250 – 500 gallon tank                 Twin 100 gallon tanks

Pipe Flange Leak/OS&Y              DOT WC-80 Fork Lift Cylinder

Bobtail Review

Each department will be provided a copy of Propane Emergency Training program. The training is being presented by Wisconsin Propane Education & Research Council in conjunction with FIRE, LLC. In accordance with NFPA 1403.

In addition the training committee is considering doing an Advanced Rapid Intervention Team Training.  They are awaiting confirmation from instructors and the location.  During the winter months your association will be hosting some classroom programs.

REMINDER that our Annual Meeting and Fall Banquet is set for Sunday, November 7th at the NEW Jackson Fire Station on WI-60, east.  Watch your emails for more information.  We will have election of officers—President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary.

Respectfully,

Badger Firefighters Association Officers
